Yeah, and the Oscars are always right, too

Looks like not everyone is pleased about the MarketingSherpa nominations. Seobook, posting here on Threadwatch doesn’t get why his blog and SEW weren’t included. Neither do I, but find this a little over the top:
Is there any point to awards that do not even list the best choices as an option?
Taking this question straight up, I’d have to say yeah, there’s a point: giving exposure to blogs people don’t already know. Blogs that don’t get trackbacks and links from bigger blogs, many of whom are only interested in sharing PR with their bestest buddies. I don’t know: I’m not familiar with most of the blogs on Sherpa’s list, because I only have time to read so many blogs and still get my work done.
I’m pleased to be included - it’ll get me some exposure - but I’m not taking it that seriously. There are more blogs on the web than there are people on the planet. There’s no way everyone could be included.
(Edited to correct citation of just who was sayin’ what. Oops.)

I totally think that it’s great that you are on the list. Why not. What makes you less deserving. As for some of those on the list - I did scratch my head and ask “why?”. But it’s not my poll
Anywhoo… like I’d mentioned on my site - I did find some sites that were worth a read - add to the ol’ RSS feed sort of thing, that I’d never come across any other way.
I like the idea that they’ve included those sort of sites - because it can become rather tedious to go through those “Blogs that don’t get trackbacks and links from bigger blogs, many of whom are only interested in sharing PR with their bestest buddies.” - I totally agree.

Exactly. I did exactly the same thing, and I’m very pleased to have discovered some of them.
