Why you don’t want to be me

by Sapphire (March 10, 2007)

About a month ago, I finished re-doing a bunch of sites - including this one - with two-column themes that loaded fast and worked well.  Then they came out with WordPress 2.1, and some of those didn’t work too well with it.

Then they deprecated the very feature that had convinced me I could squeeze all my sidebar goodies into one column: the ability to put the categories in a drop-down box.  I mean, I have sites that have dozens of categories.  They need a whole column unto themselves.

So, immediately, I started having problems with the drop down boxes.  I found plugins I thought would address the problems - some worked for some sites, but there were a couple of sites where nothing worked.  (This site, BTW, wasn’t really having problems - I just didn’t like how far down the ads pushed everything in the sidebar.)

Now, once again, I have re-themed a bunch of sites and maybe - maybe, just maybe - I can start working on content.

There are gnomes in the internet who are out to get me.  I don’t care if it sounds crazy.  It’s the truth.  ;)

I don’t think you sound crazy, I think they are out to get me too.

Although sometimes it is something I am inflicting upon myself not gnomes out to get me ;)

I definitely screw myself up sometimes - no doubt about that!

But it’s more fun talking about the gnomes. :D
