Update on CJ bull
by Sapphire (September 11, 2005)
A few days ago, I wrote to CJ to ask why all of the commissions I’ve earned since July are either “locked” or “new”, which means that even though my balance is many times the minimum payout, I’m still technically not qualified for payout. Their response?
They wanted my W-9. They put “solved” on the ticket and that was it for them.
Uh, yeah? I knew they’d be needing tax forms. What the hell did that have to do with my commissions being held on a technicality?
I’ve written them back to tell them they did not remotely solve my issue, and I want to know when the commissions I’ve earned are actually going to be paid to me. I’m aware that it can take longer to pay someone the first time, but it shouldn’t take longer to credit my account. How long will my wait be once my account is credited? And just what exactly is all this crap, anyway?
Their latest news bulletin says “Commissions will be locked in the CJ Account Manager after September 12th, instead of September 10th. Be assured that publisher payments will still be released on our normal schedule of on or around September 20th.” Okay. But what does locked mean? I thought it meant I wasn’t getting paid for that particular sale until the merchant unlocked it. So what good does that do me? (And yes, I have tried to get this info from CJU, but no luck finding it so far, partly because their interface is still crapping out on me frequently.)
Why is it this sort of thing is tolerated online, when it would never be in the offline world? Even when offline people are paid pure commission without a base salary and considered independant contractors - which is what we are, as affiliate marketers - you can’t just change the payment scheduling without notifying them. If CJ is changing things because of reversals or something, I could understand that. But they’re not telling us squat. You’d think one single mass email would have been worth their time, but nah. We’re not worth their time.
