Traffic increases without SEO

It’s strange. The more I ignore Google, the better it likes me.
This month has seen a noticeable increase in traffic at my other blog - the one that started out as a hobby. I haven’t submitted it to directories, I haven’t been leaving comments on other people’s blogs. I haven’t done a thing for SEO. In fact, I’ve only posted about 4 entries so far this month. In fact, I’ve had fewer people recommending articles on my site that usual this month. I can’t find a single link that’s sent me more than 36 hits, and most have only sent me around 5. So what gives?
While I don’t have any sites sending me tons of visitors, I do have tons of sites sending me handfuls of visitors. This is because - guess what? - the site is apparently of interest to people and worth visiting (bookmark rate is just below 40% at the moment). I’ve always done my best on the content. And at the end of last year, I did a lot of work on the template and with plugins to make the site load faster than a greased pig out of a chute, but still employ a whole lot of visitor-friendly features, like HTML buttons on comments No doubt these things are helping to make the site sticky, and worth mentioning to friends.
But Google’s also loving it. It’s sending me more searchers, and ranking me higher on good keyphrases than ever before. The bottom line is, Google is matching my content to the right surfers, and making everyone happy. With no SEO efforts from me at all.

creating good content is SEO.
