This week’s recap
by Sapphire (October 6, 2006)
Most of my time this week has centered on launching Project Mai Tai and getting Project B-2 Bomber to the next level.
Mai Tai has gained a new inbound since yesterday, and it’s sent a couple of visitors. Modest, I know, but it’s a PR3 blog. The link bait is starting to get nibbles, but so far the affiliate links are being left alone. And still nothing in the SERP’s. I know some people can launch enormously successful blogs overnight, and good for them. I lack the time and the knowledge, but every project teaches me something.
Project B-2 Bomber is cause for excitement lately. I’ve been trying to get this site more integrated into a community (it’s such a tight niche, it took a long while to find a community that fit it), and the results are astounding. New commenters, new links in, and a significant jump in traffic. Of course, given the multiple authors and the nature of the site and its subject matter, just managing it can be a big job. It’s a bit like dealing with a staff at times, because I do actually have to tell people what our goal is, and what they should do more or do less to make it happen. It’s not always what they want to hear, and I also have the pressure of worrying that if I make a bad judgment call, they’ll lose all respect for my decisions. But really, I don’t think that with the group I have now. They’re pretty tolerant of my missteps.
My offline life has been ridiculously busy, which doesn’t help. Every time I turn around, there’s something new to deal with or fix or solve. But c’est la vie.
