Tagging and social bookmarking
by Sapphire (August 20, 2006)
I’ve been Technorati tagging my own entries on this blog and a couple of others for a while - i.e., putting my own tags at the bottom of every entry. The blogs I tag don’t get a lot of traffic from Technorati. Meanwhile, I’ve got a couple of other blogs I don’t apply tags to, and they get quite a bit of traffic from Technorati. So, does tagging them myself really help?
I’ve decided to quit. It’ll save me a few seconds on every entry, which is not beneath my consideration when I’m operating several blogs. It’s just that they seem to get tagged on their own, somehow, when I leave them alone.
I’m getting more interested in social bookmarking, however. I’m getting some great results from that, as people bookmark my articles (even my free content articles, sometimes) and share them with the world.

My blogs get a bit of traffic from Technorati. But my blogs get good traffic from rss-agregator sites that use Technorati as a source.
