I got annoyed with WordPress’ counterintuitive changes in version 2.5. Version 2.6 changes nothing I’ve noticed, except introducing a few new glitches. I’m discovering some plugins and patches that make WordPress 2.5 a lot less annoying.
Remove Max Width – get back your full screen! No more wasted white space on the right!
Reveal IDs for WP Admin 2.5 Plugin – adds a column of Post IDs back into the Manage Posts page. Very handy for people who use plugins or php calls that need post IDs.

I got inspired by Eric23′s version of edit-form-advanced.php, which put the categories back into the sidebar in WordPress 2.5. I played with the code further, and managed to get the tags over there as well, which is something I always wanted. I made a modified version of it, which I was happy with until I saw Jabecker’s version, which put even more stuff in the sidebar.

I like the new WordPress, but there are a couple of features that are really getting on my last nerve:
The permalink saves as soon as you start typing the entry. I never choose a title before writing the post. This means the permalink saves as “http://bluemushrooms.com/876″ and I have to edit it after I write the title. It never used to save until you actually his “save” or publish, no ...

The new version of WordPress 2.5 is simply awesome. (UPDATE: check the rest of this tag: WordPress 2.5 Sucks.)
It loads the site faster for visitors (and weary shared servers), which is always my main concern. It’s also got some features I’ve been hungering for forever:
