B-2 Bomber’s home page is loading really slowly lately. None of the other pages are borking up, just that one. I looked for differences between it and the others - there aren’t any between it and, say, the category pages which use the main WordPress template, too. I’ve gone nuts for two days now trying [...]
Slow load time on homepage only?

Speeding up older WordPress blogs
February 25, 2007
I’ve noticed lately that Project B-2 Bomber is loading slower than my other WordPress blogs with virtually identical setups. It has more posts than most of the others, but a recent experience with a malfunctioning database table causing slow load times on Project Mai Tai got me thinking: B-2 had 22 database tables. That’s 12 [...]
Great content, so where’s my money?
January 31, 2007
Last year, I set a goal for Project B-2 Bomber to get 10,000 visitors in a month (AwStats) by December 2006. It missed, but this month it gained a lot of traffic and crossed the 10k threshold yesterday evening. This is pretty exciting stuff, even though it’s not translating into money (yet). [...]
Update: Mai Tai, Taffy & More
November 14, 2006
Project Mai Tai is still being ignored completely by Google. But it just got a new sidebar link from a Blogger blog that’s not run by anyone I know. So is it sticky? Well, a handful of people seem to think so, which means maybe if enough people saw it, it would start to build [...]
Update
October 26, 2006
Time for a general update/assessment.
Project Mai Tai is still out with Google, in with Yahoo and MSN LiveSearch. Not that it’s actually had any search traffic. But the bookmark rate is up, and Alexa puts it in the 300,000’s. Which, considering I have older and better sites doing worse is… um, whatever. ;) The point [...]
SERPs and new records
October 7, 2006
Project Mai Tai has a page in Yahoo! and MSN now. It has a subdomain which is still not in any of the SERPs, but is outranking the main domain on Alexa - which just proves Alexa’s on crack, because the subdomain has had 7 visitors so far this month, and not one link [...]
This week’s recap
October 6, 2006
Most of my time this week has centered on launching Project Mai Tai and getting Project B-2 Bomber to the next level.
Mai Tai has gained a new inbound since yesterday, and it’s sent a couple of visitors. Modest, I know, but it’s a PR3 blog. The link bait is starting to get nibbles, [...]
Technorati ignores requests for email support
October 4, 2006
I wrote Technorati last week to find out why their blog directory claims the B-2 Bomber blog doesn’t exist, even though it ranks quite decently overall on their service. Got no response. Of course, their phone line doesn’t answer, either, and the voice mail message says they won’t respond to phone messages for [...]
Alexa punishes blogs by ignoring Firefox?
October 2, 2006
The site I nickname the B-2 Bomber did well in Alexa when it first launched. Then it plummeted to something like 1.9 million and stayed there for a long time, even though the traffic was growing steadily every month. Now, suddenly today it’s taken a huge leap back into the six-digits, which comes [...]
Yahoo meets the B-2 Bomber
September 12, 2006
As some of you will recall, I started a blog just for fun over a year ago (which I nicknamed the “B-2 Bomber” for the purposes of discussing anonymously on here), on a topic that interested me, and to my surprise it took off. During that time, the vast majority of my search engine [...]
