SPEWS.ORG, part 2
by Sapphire (February 17, 2005)
In SPEWS.ORG: What a joke, I explained that this domain had been blacklisted for spamming by one rogue wannabe spam detective site, and detailed why this sucked and why it doesn’t bode well for the net in general. I also detailed the steps I was going to take about it. And I promised a report on the results:
Not too shabby! WhoIs’s parent company, NameIntel, was very responsive and helpful, and my site now shows as “clear”. So that’s the trick if this ever happens to you. Don’t mess with SPEWS and no point bothering your host. If your IP doesn’t register as an abuser at any other spam prevention site, just write to WhoIs and ask them to help.
They’re already well aware of why SPEWS methods are inaccurate, so all you really need to do is ask them to check you out and give you the clear, instead of relying on SPEWS’ info.
