ShareASale selling already
by Sapphire (October 27, 2005)
Wow. I just put up ShareaSale links above all my CJ links over the past few days on those sites where ShareASale had relevant product links. Already got a commission.
In the case of this particular merchant, they are so cool I originally wanted to build the whole site around them months ago before I decided CJ was the better choice. They offer free shipping on any US order and some lovely enticements that I know I love when I shop online. Plus, the products just look great.
When I first started building aff sites, I just threw every good-looking relevant product link on there, because I figured the more pages and products I had, the better my chances of offering people something they wanted. Throwing a big net, so to speak. I did have enough sense to at least attempt to put the better merchants in more visible positions. But I wasn’t really sure how to tell who was good and who wasn’t. EPC is one thing, but it’s not the whole story, especially on a network (CJ) that’s not clean as a whistle.
Now I’m seeing just how important it is to get the right merchants on your pages. No matter how much SEO you do, no matter how many things you get right, the merchant’s pages act like your “closer” - they seal the deal, or blow it. As I get into this and increase my traffic to the point where it actually means something if a merchant isn’t making any sales on my site, I can see the patterns where people are going to the merchant, then backing out. Or going on and buying something.
I’m excited today - I feel like this is just going to build and build.
