Search solution for IE 7 and Firefox 2

by Sapphire (October 19, 2006)

I just upgraded to Firefox 2 today, and I came across something very cool that works with it and IE7. It’s called the Open Search List, and it’s a maintained list of (I’m guessing) roll-your-own search engines.

You know that top right hand corner search bar in both browsers? In Firefox, it’s Google (by default) and in IE, it’s LiveSearch. OpenSearchList offers a LOT more engines, including some that aren’t on the Mozilla “add more engines” page: IceRocket and the NewYorkTimes, to name a couple. What’s more: just clicking the link adds them instantly into your browser - no restart, no installtion, just boom there it is.

The site is free, and here’s the link. Add search providers to IE7 and Firefox 2
