Removing direct ad offer
by Sapphire (August 25, 2006)
I’ve decided to remove the option to buy sidebar advertising directly from me. For the time being, at least, I’ll be relying on TextLinkAds and AdBrite to provide my advertising. Why? Frankly, it’s becoming a hassle, handling it myself.
Both TLA and AdBrite do a good job of screening out drug sites, porn sites, gambling sites and other types of sites that can get their link partners toasted in the SERPs. They also allow me to reject link partners anytime I want, just to be safe. And by going through these middleman sites, none of my personal information has to be revealed to the person buying the links. And I don’t have to deal with the possibility of someone paying for a link, then lying to PayPal about me in order to get a refund - another hassle I just don’t need.
Will I lose money? I’m not so sure I will, actually. The amounts TLA and AdBrite are charging for ads on BlueMushrooms.com keeps going up. And they’re bringing in advertisers who might never find my site on their own. For now, for me, it’s a win-win.
