Project Mai Tai Update - over 100 uniques per day
by Sapphire (April 7, 2007)
Project Mai Tai is still progressing about like similar sites I’ve had that weren’t banned by Google. Mai Tai has attracted a link or two from a fairly high-traffic site in its niche, and that seems to be bringing in most of the visitors. Last month, the daily visitors were between about 15 and 30, with a couple of peaks into the 60’s. This month, it’s mostly in the 80’s with a couple of peaks close to 200.
And the month’s not a week old yet.
I have to say this is really making me wonder about just how necessary Google is. Project B-2 Bomber is Google’s favorite site of mine, and while Google sends a lot of traffic to it… a lot of that traffic is kind of useless. Some of it’s irrelevant because the search string words match my site, but not the search string concept. Those people stay long enough to realize this isn’t what they were after. They don’t leave comments. Or if they do, they’re rude comments I have to delete because, dude, it’s not my fault Google sent you to me when you wanted something totally different.
By just networking Mai Tai and getting it in front of bloggers who might like it, and by linking to them first, Mai Tai is getting good, friendly, commenting traffic. People who come back. People who subscribe to it on feedreaders. That’s what I want.
