Project Mai Tai – Digg Traffic

Yesterday I reported that I’d done something I hoped would significantly boost Mai Tai’s traffic. While I was at it, I also dugg one of my posts.

The thing I did to significantly boost traffic hasn’t come through yet – we’ll see if it does. The Digg effect, however, brought me 79 new visitors so far. That’s not bad considering the post only got 3 Diggs altogether. :D

The other post I did a few days ago – the one I thought might get picked up on Digg – totally flopped. I don’t care what anyone tells you about making sure you put numbers in the title, or have lists of links or this or that… ultimately, Digg is about content. If people don’t say, “Oh, that’s useful” when they read your post, it flops. The Mai Tai post, by contrast, was a little bit of largely unknown trivia that could be very useful. Obviously it wasn’t useful enough to make the Digg front page… but I’m not sure Digg is as democratic as we’re led to believe. Maybe 79 visitors here and there is all I’m going to get. It’s still not bad.
