Pheedo Pulling a Runner?
by Sapphire (August 10, 2005)
There’s something wrong at Pheedo, and if you’re thinking of working with them, you should be aware.
A couple of weeks ago, someone purchased adspace on this site, via Pheedo. I approved the ad, and it went into circulation. I have no idea when I get paid - my account has yet to be credited with the agreed-upon amount, so I wrote to ask.
No response. There’s more.
Last week, I got another ad purchase for another of my sites. I approved it. The ad never went into circulation. My account still had never been credited with the other ad. There’s no FAQ that addresses this (the FAQ’s are in the blog and in the TOS, by the way, in case you thought there would be a simple link to them on the home page). So I wrote yet again to ask: why the new ad had never started running, when my account was ever going to be credited with any of the money earned, and when I would be paid. I emailed them three times in total.
No. Response. Whatsoever.
I don’t know if Pheedo’s pulling a runner, or if it’s a one-man shop and that man is down for the count. Whatever’s going on, I now have my doubts that I will ever be paid for the ad I ran.
Fortunately, for me, that’s not a huge loss. I’ve already sold an ad via CrispAds that’s far more valuable than what Pheedo owes me (and while I haven’t yet qualified to be paid by CrispAds, I have found them to be very professional and responsive to my inquiries). But what concerns me is being made to look bad before my potential clients. It’s lucky that I had had other contact with the gentleman who’s ad Pheedo never ran, and I was able to email him and inform him that I’d done all I could to run his ad, and couldn’t get any sort of response from Pheedo.
I’m also concerned about advertisers getting what they paid for. I’m only out the expectation of money - advertisers may be out actual money.
I’ll keep you posted on this situation. If you’ve had a similar experience with Pheedo or any other ad network, please comment about it here or use the contact form to send me an email.

Sapphire,
I don’t know how reliable Pheedo is, but when I set up my account with them - I had problems with their layouts - like a 468*60 showing as a 120*600 and things like that. I even posted that problem in my blog… and I got a comment from the boss of Pheedo. To me that was weird, but appreciated.
After that I heard NOTHING either. So I punted them. (also the fact that they don’t work with people outside the US… LOL, meh - whateva!).
I would suggest to everyone to think hard before using Pheedo.

If you wrap their code in div tags, that seems to take care of the layout issues. It would be a good idea for concerns like that to be addressed in a FAQ somewhere on the site.
I’m getting the feeling it’s a one-person operation, which is fine - but there should be someone who can assist when that person is unavailable.

I’ve contacted you, and I’ll post an update as a new entry so it gets the same level of prominence as this one.

…. hmmm, isn’t kind of *strange* (creepy!) that Bill knew you were talking about Pheedo… and then posted to the blog?

And I take back my suggestion that it might be a one-man shop. Wonder where Adam Kalsey (http://bluemushrooms.com/archives/144-CrispAds-v.-AdBrite-and-AdSense-and-Pheedo.html#c23) was during the week I couldn’t get a response?

I use Pubsub and other similar services to track Pheedo so we can address issues like this. I like to stay on top of the conversations people are having about Pheedo. Good practice.
