Pheedo once again proves useless

by Sapphire (May 27, 2006)

Pheedo appears to have turned into - you’re going to laugh - a traffic exchange! It used to be a PPC ad network that also allowed you to sell adspace directly to advertisers. Now it’s… something else.

I logged into my account today, and found that some of my ad zones had disappeared (but not others), and my balance of PPC earnings had suddenly and without warning morphed into “Exchange Credits”, which are explained as follows:

Impression credits are earned by showing ads on your site and are used up when your ad is shown on someone else’s site. Each time you show an ad, you’ll earn 2/3 of a credit, and each time your ad is shown elsewhere, you spend one credit.

A single ad unit (one instance of the ad code) may have more than one ad in it. So if your site displays the standard ad format that includes two ads, you’re earning 1 1/3 credits each time someone visits a page on your site that includes the ad code.

Putting your ad code on every page of your blog is an easy way to earn credits faster. You’ll earn credits each time someone looks at your archives, your photos, or any other page on your blog.

So instead of earning, you know, money Pheedo publishers are now earning adspace on other people’s blogs. Did I get warning in advance? Maybe an email notice that the terms of service were changing? Oh, hell no. It’s not even a blip on their blog.

That’s it for me, then.

Pheedo’s run an ad exchange since their inception. I’d bet that there’s a data error or software bug that accidentally got your account switched from a paid publisher to an exchange account. Give them a call and they’ll probably be able to straighen it out.

    Hello J.A.-

Pheedo ad Exchange (also known as Blogsnob) is a free service to help Bloggers promote their site to other bloggers, and in exchange increase their site traffic.

A Pheedo Publisher account is a separate service that allows Publishers to monetize their RSS feeds and Website traffic. Payouts will vary based on RSS subscriptions and website traffic.

Blue Mushroom’s created two separate accounts, one from each service. I will email you with details.

As I’ve suggested in our previous email exchanges, please contact me if you ever need assistance, or if you ever have any concerns. I would be happy to help.
