Pheedo, CrispAds and AdBrite
by Sapphire (August 2, 2005)
I’ve been experimenting with three ad networks lately - Pheedo, CrispAds and AdBrite - all of which gives you CPC ads until you sell the adspace. Here’s where everything stands.
I’ve actually sold a bit of adspace via Pheedo. No CPC clicks. Don’t care - adspace was more valuable, even though I didn’t charge much.
CrispAds was working okay for me on CPC, for a little while. Then it stopped when I took it out of the sidebar and put it at the bottom of posts. So I guess I need to fiddle with the placement more. The worst thing about it is that it’s kind of slow-loading, when it grabs each block of ad text separately.
AdBrite is only on one of my sites, but it is getting some clicks. The reason it’s only on one is that it just wasn’t doing as well as the others - and it kept putting up ads for “how to get out of paying child support” which is not an activity I want to encourage, personally.
I’m still not certain which of these works best, or if it varies from site to site. I keep trying new things, and there are a lot of variables that make it hard to tell whether it’s the ad network itself making the difference, or something I did. Or just people being on vacation or something. But I just keep playing with it.
