June stats
by Sapphire (July 1, 2007)
Last month was less than thrilling. I think it’s mostly because I’m trying to get away from ads and branch out into CPA and affiliate stuff more. I’m crippling what had been working for me to try new things.
But the things that were working for me were at a plateau, so I don’t regret my decision. I want to be earning a lot more than $300 a month. That seemed to be where I was stuck, relying mostly on text link ads.
This month I made $311. I had been aiming for $400, albeit with no specific plan how I’d get there.
Last month I made $335 and in May I made $350. It’s not a huge drop, really - even the slowness of summer could account for some of it.
But my income streams are diversifying, and that’s promising. Last month, I got my first CJ sales (about $40 in commissions) for the entire year, which makes the first five months of the year absolutely pathetic. So while I lost a good bit on text link ads that dropped me when I lost a point of PR on several sites (exactly why I don’t want to rely on advertising that relies excessively on PR), I made up for a chunk of it from affiliate marketing.
BurstMedia… 4 cents? CrispAds… I think maybe their stats froze this weekend, because I was up to $2 on Friday, and then it slid back to $1.50. I know they delete fraudulent clicks, but I haven’t made any and I don’t see why anyone else would, so um…. I’ll wait a day or two and see what it says then.
AdEngage has proven a decent replacement for AdBrite. And they pay by PayPal, which beats getting a check from AdBrite. And the ads look better.
My plan for this month? I still haven’t made a single commission with Azoogle, and I believe I should be able to. I also want to continue to push affiliate stuff. So I’m going to:
- Replace some of my current Azoogle ads with other offers, see if I can learn what works on my sites. I think with CPA, ad freshness is key. Otherwise people get blind to the same ads over and over. The only PITA with this is I’m using an ad rotator that rotates ads in a text file, and trying to guess which ad is which means a lot of cutting and pasting image URL’s into windows, then hoping it’s obvious which offer they go with.
- Incorporate some aff stuff into those ad rotations, see if I can learn what works on my sites for that.
- If I have time, see if I can sell more text link ads than I’m currently selling. Not quite sure how to go about this, but we’ll see.
