Haha, suckers! #2 for “Get Rich Online”
by Sapphire (June 18, 2007)
This site is now the Number 2 result on Google for the search phrase "Get Rich Online". This has brought me five - count ‘em - five whole visitors!
It’s not a phrase I ever tried to rank for, but this is interesting. I’ve never ever gotten searches for that phrase before, despite the site’s description on every page reading "Get Rich Online in 387,923 Painful, Difficult Steps" for probably close to two years now. What’s changed? Maybe domain age. Nothing else has particularly improved lately. I’m seeing more and more signs that domain age might just be the Holy Grail of this online earning stuff - not everything you need, but the one thing that makes the biggest difference.
In a way, it’s even logical. While the concept of counting links as votes of quality has always been stupid (one look at a political site blasting its opposition, complete with links, should demonstrate the problem), the idea that keeping a domain alive for a certain amount of time says something. It’s no guarantee the site is good, of course, but as one factor? Sure, why not?
And it’s still not too late to go Digg my post on Chilly. C’mon, I just want to see what happens if you get more than 4 votes, which is not an organic result I’ve ever managed!
UPDATE: Also, I’m #1 for "get rich affiliate". That’s brought me another four weary searchers. You’d think these phrases would be better than that.
