Google reader shows up as Google search in AwStats

I like AwStats, but it’s not perfect. I use StatCounter to give me more details day to day. And today, I finally figured out why AwStats is registering hits from Google on Project Mai Tai even though Mai Tai still hasn’t been indexed by Google: AwStats doesn’t distinguish a hit from Google’s feed reader from Google’s search engine. This is news to me. I’m not sure it makes a huge difference in determining how much traffic my sites are getting from Google, but it does mean the results are off just a little.
