Goodbye AdBrite, hello… CrispAds?

by Sapphire (June 12, 2007)

I’m finally finishing out my last set of auto-renew ads on AdBrite and removing them from my site. I have nothing against AdBrite - it’s just that after a couple of years, the revenue is not increasing. What seemed like a good chunk of change when I started out now just seems like an annoyance, since it comes in the form of a check which is a hassle for me to deposit. All the other systems I work with pay by PayPal.

AdEngage has sold a couple of ads for a measly $5 for me, and that’s it. It may well be something I’m doing wrong - I’m definitely not earning as much as I should be from any source. So I’m keeping AdEngage around because I like the look of the ads and want to give it a fair shot.

I’m going to test out CrispAds here and on another site. They got a new owner after all the disasters of years past, so I wanted to test them out for old times’ sake.

I’m starting to get strangely picky about ads. I’m starting to notice the big sites all have strictly banner ads. No text ads, no contextuals. The banner ads are always visually integrated into the site in a seamless way - they’ll have a thin, pale border around them that matches other boxes on the site, or they’ll just be so perfectly aligned with the rest of the sidebar that it looks like they were born there. They’re usually across the top and on the top sidebar. Of course, to merit worthwhile banner ads of that type, you need to be in with good ad services.

The only remotely quality ad service I’m qualified for is Burst Media. I really do not like some of the ads they run - they look cheap to me. Lots of “girly” ads, as if the people coming to my site are 11 year old boys or something. And from the new interface, I can’t find a way to change anything. Very frustrating. But I’m going to try them out for a bit, see if something shakes loose.

Would you consider putting the site up for Text Link Ads or LinkWorth - might be worth a peek. So far they’ve performed the best on my affiliate marketing site. I’ve never had much luck with anything else. But that could just be me… LOL.

    Sapphire,

Thanks for giving us a shot. Also, I should note that we are starting to bring in advertisers on a cpm bases so if you don’t set your monthly site fees too high you will start to see some quality advertisers starting to replace some of the cpc ads we use as backfill.

Sounds good, Jim! I’m going to implement some ads later today. :)

    Hi all,
I’m handling the new advertiser side of CrispAds now that we took it over, and I’m looking for more sites to run our offers across. I’m working with clients ranging from dating sites, software, e commerce and more, including various Blue Chip clients. We’re pricing the ads on a CPM so we need sites that are willing to test initially at a $.35 max CPM. If interested, please email me directly: jenniferatcrispadsdotcom

    Thanks!
