Dear Wordpress: please change these things back

I like the new Wordpress, but there are a couple of features that are really getting on my last nerve:

  • The permalink saves as soon as you start typing the entry. I never choose a title before writing the post. This means the permalink saves as “http://bluemushrooms.com/876″ and I have to edit it after I write the title. It never used to save until you actually his “save” or publish, no matter how many times it “saved” a draft. This is an extra step I don’t need in my day.
  • Bring back time of day in the Manage Posts screen. I’m not sure why they think I don’t need to know what hour my posts went up at a glance, but I do. I rely on that screen to keep from posting things, like, 30 seconds apart (which I did last week, despite it, but that was my bad). Now I have to go into the posts to see what time they are, then come back out to Manage Posts and hope I remember which one was which hour so I can figure out how they’re publishing in relation to each other.

Other interface changes I don’t like but can live with:

  • Categories at the bottom of the write post page. Why? Sometimes I could write a whole post without ever scrolling, but now that’s impossible.
  • The Delete button is right next to Save in Edit Post? C’mon, back in 1997 they knew that was always a bad idea.

I’m posting all this at the forum, too.
