Casino Spammers Gone
by Sapphire (September 2, 2005)
Remember a few weeks ago when I posted an open letter to the Casino Spammers who kept submitting spam comments to my site here? In it, I just kindly let them know that I screen the comments, so they are not getting through. Period.
I haven’t had one since. Could it be that simple?
I decided to look into the whole spam issue, and I found some things you may not realize. It turns out Spam was pretty important in World War II, and may even be responsible for the Allies beating the dreaded Nazis. So, basically, Spam is a Nazi-fighter. Good for spam! Spam also helped to make the workplace more fair, when Hormel brought in 448 women to work in place of menfolk gone to war. I guess that’s 448 would who never would have had a chance to work with food otherwise!
Apparently, Spam is also one of the most versatile foods around, but I was unable to find a Spam dessert recipe anywhere on the web.
Have a happy Spam-free holiday weekend if you’re in the States. Does anybody else celebrate Labor Day? Surely we’re the only nation on the planet who would celebrate jobs. ![]()

In answer to your enquiry about other nations celebrating Labour Day, it may be worth knowing that:
Admittedly, Your Correspondent, too, has tried to make money off his website with a couple of online malls, but with no success. Notwithstanding my trying to emphasise where I’m trying to supplement my disability benefit by honest means, contrary to what some expect of my ilk.

Oh, good to know about the holidays!
I’m sorry to hear you haven’t had much luck - it took me a lot of years, and then finally meeting some people who had the good fortune (and smarts) to figure a lot of this stuff out. And I’m nowhere near being able to make a living yet, but I’m starting to see some money coming in. It really is a tough gig, no matter all these people who claim “I got up one morning, set up a website, made a million by noon!”
I know a lot of people who are trying to supplement their benefits through online ventures. The net has really opened up a beautiful option for people who can’t work outside the home due to physical issues - as well as stay at home parents, people who need to care for elderly relatives at home, etc. Unfortunately, it’s not at all easy money.
Best of luck to you! I hope you find something that works for you.
