Awesome tiny little CMS
by Sapphire (March 12, 2007)
I’ve been keeping all my webmaster notes in a WordPress blog for a while, and it’s getting to be a pain to find things. And, being database driven, it’s not the fastest-running thing on earth. None of the database-free Wikis I’ve found quite do what I want. TiddlyWiki rocks, but it’s for your PC, not a server, and I want my stuff on a server so I can access it from any computer.
This weekend, I found CMSimple. Install is just uploading the files (and maybe setting some permissions if you can “cannot read” errors). Creating new pages just means using an H1 header in whatever document you’re in (or H2 for a subpage, or H3 and so on). And the interface is WYSIWYG, which means if I copy a page full of links from my old WP blog, those links are intact as soon as I paste them into CMSimple. I just hit “save” and boom.
I’m thinking not only is this awesome for personal notes, but it could be unbelievable for small sites. Small content sites, small affiliate sites, small stores.
