Attracting advertisers
by Sapphire (March 21, 2007)
Problogger has this to say about attracting advertisers to a blog. What do you guys think of the suggestions mentioned here? For example, is sharing your stats with potential advertisers a good idea if those stats are unimpressive? Maybe it is, as long as your prices are in line with the stats.
All of my sites currently offer advertising only through third parties, which I allow to set my prices. I can use stats from them as well as from AwStats to give a clear picture of what you’re getting for your bucks. And it would also be a chance to correct the perception AdBrite gives about most of my hits on some sites coming from India. Okay, I’m convinced.
What do you think?

I agree that having an advertising info page is important. Maybe that would be a good place to put the stats, rather than on the main part of the blog/site.
And that’s good advice about keeping the ads on-topic, and using affiliate ads or something as fillers for spots that don’t have direct-paid ads.
I don’t know about offering the free ads, or paying somebody to give you demographic info about your sites.
Overall, I think the suggestions are useful. Keep your blogs professional (which will mean different things for different blogs), on-topic, have a good “about us” page, etc.

I think I’m with you in every detail. I got stuck yesterday creating graphics for the “Advertise Here” page link, then realized, “Hey, stupid, write up the pages first”.
