An Ad Network report
by Sapphire (August 7, 2006)
I was going to do a recap of all the ad networks I’ve tried so far, and what I think of them, but that would have to include a couple of negative reviews. Rather than be negative, I’m just going to discuss the ones I’m liking so far, and why I’m liking them. Please take everything I say with a grain of salt: I was as stunned as anyone with CrispAds up and left with everyone’s money, so just because a network’s working for me now and paying me in a timely fashion, you can’t take that as a guarantee it’ll last forever. And your needs may differ from mine.
In no particular order:
AdBrite: this has been a great, steady check every month for me since early days. I use it primarily to sell adspace, but you can let the adspace get filled with network PPC ads when it’s available. Because of the direct ad sales and the cheaper but more frequent clicks, it’s far outshone Adsense for me.
TextLinkAds: this is a new one to me, but so far so good. The place simple, unscripted text link ads on your site, which gives the advertiser the benefit of your actual pagerank. For this reason, they charge a lot more than third-party services, so if you have desireable pagerank, you should be able to get a couple of advertisers and have a nice little bit of income every month. It takes hardly any “real estate” room on your site, which is another nice bonus.
BurstMedia’s BurstDirect: the very new service from BurstMedia. This is a program that sets up banner ads on your site (you have several choices on placement and size) and runs ads in them (you have extensive control over choosing which advertisers you want to work with). You can also put “personal campaigns” of any banner ad that fits their criteria for them to rotate in the space. They pay per impression and per click. Currently, they yet don’t have a ton of campaigns running, and I have to run a survey ad until they have the number of responses they want (which I’m very far from reaching). And yet, I’m still making a decent little amount every day, and it seems to be growing every day. I have hopes that in the long run, this will become a serious earner, as both their service and my traffic improve.
