Affiliate marketing, off-road from affiliate sites

by Sapphire (May 12, 2006)

I took a look at my aff sites today and realized something:

I have no intuition about how to make these sites work. None. It’s just like it doesn’t come naturally to me. And that’s frustrating me, because if I want to beat my head and struggle for chump change, I could wait tables and that way get some exercise in the process. But fortunately, I did have some inspirations.

I started a new AdWords campaign for one of my sites, featuring summer-themed merchandise. And then I tossed some affiliate ads onto my blogs, including this one. Hey, if I can’t figure out how to bring the traffic to my affiliate sites, why not bring my affiliate links to where the traffic is?

Of course, if my traffic is still too low to appeal to blog adspace buyers, chances are I won’t get overwhelming sales from these links. But it’s a whole lot more traffic than they’re seeing now. Plus, it gives me the chance to try out a couple of networks I’ve not been using much lately, like MaxBounty. MaxBounty never performed very well on my other sites, which could be an issue of matching the right visitors to the right ads, or it could be traffic. I’m also running a ShareASale ad or two.

I’m trying this on a few sites with a few variations, but you can get the idea from looking at what I’ve done on this one.
