About

Blue Mushrooms began back in January 2005, chronicling my successes and failures in online marketing with a healthy dose of honesty and humor. I also try to pass on good information about tips and tools for marketers. This site:

  • Does not do paid reviews. See the policy. Most of them are brokered through third party services that aren’t very creative, so you end up seeing 5,000 reviews of some new site on the same day, all over your feedreader. Blue Mushrooms is not a part of that.
  • Does test services before recommending them. Anyone who’s followed from the start knows of the example of CrispAds, a service which started out great, went bad, came back seemingly good, and ended up being useless. Sometimes my recommendations end up disappointing me, in which case I:
  • Removes links to services I no longer recommend. My links to CrispAds and used to be referral links to those sites. When I no longer felt I could recommend those services, I changed those links globally to point to articles explaining why not.
  • Gives you actual information. I do my best to avoid drama and hype and stick to the facts as I see them.
  • Does not post about Google. Because so many sites cover Google’s every yawn as if it’s big huge news, giving them loads of unwarranted publicity (see my post on this at sister site ChillyCool.com), I have decided not to post about them at all anymore. Why be redundant?
  • Wants to hear from you. What do you want from the site? How can I make it more valuable? Use the contact form here to let me know.
