A host you might want to try
by Sapphire (October 16, 2005)
If you’re looking for really cheap hosting to get started, but you want something reliable with decent support, I have a story to tell you. I’ve been building new affiliate marketing sites lately, and moving a couple of my other sites around to new hosts. I’m not one of those people who insists dollar sites are to be avoided. Some of them are quite good, and depending on the nature of the site, I’ll give them a try.
In all my confusion this past week, I ended up signed up to more hosts than I needed. Oops. Fortunately, one of them was a very inexpensive host, so if I couldn’t get my money back, it wouldn’t kill me. I wrote to them and asked to cancel the order, not really expecting anything. But they wrote back very quickly and said of course, but would I mind telling them why, and whether it was something they did/failed to do? I told them what had happened, and they refunded my PayPal immediately.
Now, obviously I can’t vouch for what kind of hosting they provide, since I didn’t experience it. But I was impressed with their service - even when they were giving up money - and thought I’d mention them here as an option you guys might want to try if you’re looking for a dollar host.
This inexpensive host is called Indnet.net. Their smallest package is $10/year. Here are the reasons I thought they were worth trying: their package prices are not ridiculous. Their cheap packages are cheap because they’re small, not because they’re suspiciously underpriced. They don’t allow ANY adult hosting or hosting of warez and all that stuff - you don’t want to share your server with spammers and people whose sites hog all your bandwidth and give your sites timeouts. They guarantee 99.5% uptime (and given how quickly they refunded my money, I’m inclined to think they would honor it), 24/7 support and say they’ve been in business since 1998.
Again, I can’t actually testify to how good they are, but I’ve been through a lot of good and bad hosts and learned what to look for. I think these guys are worth a try.

You’re welcome. I like to pass on good tips.
And it’s cool to hear that people are actually clicking. Sometimes I’m not sure very many people are actually reading this site, LOL!

Worth mentioning: I\’m now hosting a site with you guys, for a couple of months, and everything has been perfect so far.

Dreamhost.com is a rather respected host. For 8 bucks a month you can host unlimited domains.
So I paid my year up front, now I can throw as many sites against the wall and see what sticks, and never worry about hosting again(well at least until next year).
