Adsense sucks (for me); CrispAds much better

Date July 30, 2007

I tested AdSense Link units on one of my sites recently. I got one click almost immediately and thought that was a good sign. But no, the first click was also the last click I got. I replaced it all with CrispAds, and the clicks are eeking in, which is all I can expect from [...]

Earnings back up

Date July 27, 2007

After a disappointing May and June, my July earnings (currently $366) are close to beating my all time record ($377, which I hit in 2006 the month I sold a huge item for a $250 commission).
Actually, the main reason I did this well was Sponsored Reviews, which sent me a couple of opps earlier this [...]

Azoogle ads - still no commissions, but…

Date July 26, 2007

600+ clicks over four sites and I’ve yet to make a commission from Azoogle. But I think I know why, and if I’m right - it’s not bad news.
I’m currently running it on four sites: this one, ChillyCool, Project B-2 Bomber, and Project Mai Tai. I’m running mostly the exact same ads on each site. [...]

My hosts are playing with themselves

Date July 26, 2007

Last night, this blog started returning nothing but blank pages. The directory was still working - slowly - so I thought it was a problem with the Wordpress install. I know there’s a blank page bug in Wordpress, but this wasn’t that.
I still don’t know what it was, but I have a suspicion. I thought [...]

Trimming down my feed list

Date July 24, 2007

Lately I’ve been experimenting with ways to trim fat from my daily schedule. Today I decided to eliminate some blogs from my feedreader, which always seems to have “more than 100″ new posts for me. The funny thing is: who I eliminated.
I got rid of a lot of the A List/big guys/gurus not because I [...]

A copyrighting lesson: getting analogies right

Date July 23, 2007

I tried to leave a comment on this post over at CopyBlogger, but interestingly it didn’t make it through moderation. So I figured I’d just make the point here, because it’s a valid one.
The above-linked article lost me before it even made it past the unrelated analogy it was setting up to whatever the article [...]

Over 500 clicks and no actions? And AdSense Link Units

Date July 23, 2007

I’ve got Azoogle ads running on several sites. So far this month, I’ve had over 500 clicks, but not one action. Does that sound normal? Seriously, I’m asking. If not, what am I doing wrong?

Wrong ads for sites? Maybe I’m not picking the right ads because I don’t really understand what my visitors are interested [...]

Turning off Do-follow on Project B 2 Bomber

Date July 21, 2007

I have Do-follow on several of my blogs, so that if you leave comments, you get real link juice back to your URL. I’m leaving it on for this site and ChillyCool, as long as the situation remains tolerable.
I added Do-follow because I think no-follow is pointless and serves Google’s desires rather than my visitors’ [...]

Oh, so I’m not the only one the TextLinkAds bot can’t read ads on

Date July 20, 2007

I posted recently that TextLinkAds keeps taking this site out of their ad marketplacebecause their bot can’t find the ads, which have been running continuously with no interruptions in hosting or anything ever since they were first bought. After I email them, they always manage to find it, but that takes about 24 hours - [...]

Consolidating Categories

Date July 19, 2007

I spent some time today consolidating categories on several sites, including this one. As you blog, you find you’re no longer writing about some of the topics you once wrote about and there’s just no point in having a category for them when those posts can go under some other category.
I did think twice before [...]
