Pheedo once again proves useless

Date May 27, 2006

Pheedo appears to have turned into - you’re going to laugh - a traffic exchange! It used to be a PPC ad network that also allowed you to sell adspace directly to advertisers. Now it’s… something else.
I logged into my account today, and found that some of my ad zones had disappeared (but [...]

New game plan

Date May 26, 2006

Yesterday I wrote about the idea that I’m trying to do too much too fast with my affiliate sites. It would certainly explain the burnout I’ve been feeling.
The bottom line is: I don’t want to put myself through the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree trying to figure out how Google positions sites. If [...]

New commish right after link cleanup?

Date May 25, 2006

I checked my ShareASale account this morning - lo and behold, a nice big new commission from one of the aff sites I cleaned up over the weekend (dead links, navigation and template issues). This really makes me wonder how important that basic maintenance is. I’ve been more focused on finding new ways [...]

Yahoo! Publisher Beta Testing

Date May 24, 2006

As you can see, I finally got into the Yahoo! Publisher Beta program, and am trying it out.
In other PPC news, I’m suddenly doing pretty well with CrispAds, particularly on my other blog, which is finally outpacing this one for traffic. It’s nothing to write home about, but considering my levels of [...]

Aff site maintenance

Date May 22, 2006

This weekend, I cleaned out most of the dead links on my aff sites. Got some more work to do, but it’s getting close. I also changed the themes on two sites, and added some navigational stuff that I hope will make the sites easier to browse.
I got very frustrated because I came [...]

New advertising options

Date May 16, 2006

I’m now offering direct text link advertising on this site. Instead of going through a third party like AdBrite or CrispAds, you can get a link direct from BlueMushrooms, and benefit from the PR5 on the main page. (Directory pages are all PR 1 or 2).

Thanks for the crap, Google

Date May 15, 2006

I try not to think in terms of SEO anymore. Instead of focusing on how to get the visitor to my site, I look harder at what I’m giving them when they arrive. But I do still think about how to attract them, and that includes SEOing for Google.
Recently, I reported that I’m [...]

PHPBB forum bringing me down?

Date May 14, 2006

One of my most-trafficked sites - the “B-2 Bomber” suddenly has less than 100 pages indexed. At one point it had over 9,000. It still gets good traffic from Google, and sometimes Google reports 1,400 pages indexed instead of 100. But I’m concerned.
The one thing this site has that none of my [...]

Simple ad rotator script

Date May 13, 2006

ETA: a fix (scroll down)
If you want a really simple ad rotator, try this one from FlashHere.com. No ads, no control panel, no MySQL database. You just upload to your server a php file (the script) and a text file. Then you paste the ad code into that text file, one ad [...]
